CURLEWS CALL
We’re excited to share that we’re in development on an original, community-led theatre project creating The Curlews’ Call, a new family theatre work rooted right here on the Gold Coast.
At its heart, The Curlews’ Call is an original local story, grounded in a love for nature, people, storytelling, and our younger generation, and inspired by the much-loved (and often misunderstood) Bush Stone Curlew.

Our vision is to reimagine theatre making with a difference: creating original works and playful re-spins of the classics, delivered with tongue-in-cheek humour, respect, and heart. We believe no joke is too far when it is grounded in truth, and that diversity, lived experience, and community belong at the centre of every story.
Ya Mum Productions is committed to building safe, inclusive spaces where artists and audiences alike can take risks, laugh hard, and find themselves reflected onstage. Our work fuses irreverence with care, boldness with responsibility, and cheek with craft. Whether reinventing Shakespeare, devising new narratives, or collaborating with communities, we strive to deliver theatre that is entertaining, inclusive, and just a little bit more off beat than usual. We dual role as theatre makers and qualified support workers and educators making sure, we can support individuals and groups to have the most wonderful creative experience possible. We are proudly working alongside Good Karma Collective to support artists to deliver and work in multiple fields.
